Her (2013) Movie Review

Whenever we think about Artificial Intelligence (AI), we immediately think about films such as Terminator or The Matrix, where technology ultimately decides to kill all humans, or something equally extreme. However, in the film Her, Spike Jonze depicts a more benevolent relationship between humans and AI. Through a love story about a human and an operating system, this film not only examines how an artificially intelligent operating system would change our personal lives, but it also looks at the effects technology has on society as a whole.

Philadelphia Film Review

(This is a review that I wrote for the film class I was talking about. I hope you like it)

Philadelphia (1993)

Main cast: Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington
Director: Jonathan Demme
Synopsis: When a man with AIDS is fired by his law firm because of his condition, he hires a homophobic small time lawyer as the only willing advocate for a wrongful dismissal suit.

Review:

Philadelphia was released during a time when AIDS was rampant and misunderstood. In 1993, the year the film was released, there were 14 million documented people with the HIV virus, and 2.5 million people worldwide diagnosed with AIDS. Because people didn’t understand the disease, people with AIDS were stigmatized, and faced a lot of discrimination, especially homosexuals. Many people believed that only homosexuals could contract this deadly virus, and even thought of it to be penance for their decision to participate in homosexual activity. Philadelphia not only helped clear up the stigmas surrounding the virus, but it also allowed people to put a face to the disease.

Who even is this again?

Hello.
It's me.
The inconsistent blogger known as Dija.

I could tell you that I've been busy, I have too many things to do, etc. But in the end, all I really was doing was kind of putting this blog off.

My only real excuse is that the creative side of my brain has been just been "bleh"-ing on me.

However, I know that you guys don't want to read a lame rant. So, here's a list of the things I've been done since my hiatus:

On Emma Watson's Speech About Feminism

 Carlo Allegri/Reuters

So this isn't going to be a review post.
In fact, I don't know if it's gonna be much of a post at all.
I just wanted to let you guys know Emma Watson did a thing and it's amazing.
I am now a big Emma Watson-enthusiast

Review: Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun

Is this manga/anime even real?!

It's too good to be true.

Lucklily, it is true, and I'll be making a review on it.

(Also, this review will be both on the manga and the anime since they are so similar.)

Isla and the Happily Ever After

This book was just...

Perfect. TOO perfect.

I read it in 5 hours, and cried for about three.

It also came out today, if that helps show you my COMPLETE AND UTTER DEDICATION to this book.

I swear, I'm going to have to start drawing fanart for this, it was so good.

(This entire post is basically gonna be a big spoiler of the book. You have been warned)

All of these bottles, and you had to recycle me

Hi!
Long time no see!
(And award for the most sporadically-posting blogger goes to... ME!)
I KNOW I promised to post more reviews, and I SHALL... as soon as I get time. This summer has been filled with unfulfilled ambitions. Anyway, this post is going to be a bit different from my usual reviews.

Arctic Monkeys live at Summerfest.

I saw AM live...
Wow.
It was awesome.
Even though I was only able to see them through screens on the sides of the stage.
It was amazing.
They played pretty much all of my favorite songs, like "Library Pictures", "Crying Lighting", and "505" (to name a few).
Also, everyone was getting high around me, so I have a major headache...
Just wow.

What I thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick

(This is the same review I wrote for my local library thing, but it's mine, I assure you)

Woahh...

I totally just fell off.
I'm so sorry.

These past few weeks were my last weeks of school, and I was super busy with homework. Luckily, it's summer now, so I'll be able to post more often.

Again, sorry, and thanks.

*Next month, I'll be testing for my 4th degree black belt in MMA!
*The quarter is almost over, and I'm freaking out.
* I plan to post more often... I'm gonna start posting reviews of music, movies, anime, manga, fashion. I may also post more life updates.

** There are some painful clincher and topic sentences, so I understand if you aren't able to bear it.
