Review: Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun

Is this manga/anime even real?!

It's too good to be true.

Lucklily, it is true, and I'll be making a review on it.

(Also, this review will be both on the manga and the anime since they are so similar.)

This manga/anime is hilarious. Like seriously, slap-knee-and-double-over hilarious. It's also by Tsubaki Izumi, the same author of Oresama Teacher, another incredibly funny manga.

It starts off with introducing us to Sakura Chiyo, a high schooler with an unwavering love for tall, kind of mysterious boy named Nozaki-kun. She decides to confess her love to him, by saying that she's always been a fan of his. He takes her statement literally and gives her an autograph.

This does some damage to her, but she refuses to give up. Nozaki invites Sakura to his house, and she happily agrees. When they arrive at his house, he has her fill in some lines on what seems to be a manuscript of a manga. Sakura finally realizes that the reason that he took her statement so literally is because he's a famous shoujo mangaka, and he thought she'd found out about his other identity.

The rest of the series is all about the adventures Nozaki, Sakura, and their other friends have while creating manga, dealing with high school, and trying to make fantasies a reality.

I think my favorite scene from the entire series is this one, in which Nozaki is sick, has a deadline the next day, and hasn't written out his character's lines. So, Sakura and two fellow assistants try to figure out the main heroine's lines for Nozaki by basing it off of a completely obnoxious classmate:

I also like this gif from the anime, in which Nozaki and Sakura are trying to model out how the hero and heroine from the manga might avoid getting wet in the rain without an umbrella:

It's all incredibly funny, and I recommend it to anyone who reads a lot of manga, or just anyone who wants a good laugh.

Also, I give it a 4.5/5 rating.
